She capsized in a typhoon, east of Samar, Philippines in position 14º57'N, 127º58'E. 7 officers and 55 men survived the sinking which includes the Commander Officer Lt Cmdr James Alexander Marks, However 202 of her crew were lost.
She received 10 battle stars for her WWII service.
