Scuttled on 3 May 1945 at Travemünde. Wreck broken up.
The Commander, Oblt. Horst Günther, left the boat on 30 April 1945 to take command of a type VIIC boat. U-2533 was then taken over by the IWO, Oblt. Josef Rink. The crew waited at Travemünde for orders to sail to Bergen but after the cease-fire they sailed out, most of the crew got off while the machine crew prepared to scuttle the boat.Read more about the Schnorchel and see list of fitted boats.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-2533 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
