|History||Launched as Norwegian Tello for Jacob Lindvig, Christiania. Completed in June 1921 as Australian Cycle for Smith Howard & Co Ltd, Melbourne. 1936 sold to Britain and renamed Cape Wrath for Lyle Shipping Co Ltd, Glasgow. 1937 sold to Latvia and renamed Everelza. When Latvia was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940, she was one of eight ships that did not follow the orders to return home and continued to sail under the Latvian flag. U-boats sank five of these eight ships and damaged a sixth while another one was sunk by an Italian submarine. |

At 09.48 hours on 13 Aug 1942, U-600 fired three torpedoes at convoy TAW-12 about 18 miles south of Cape Maysi, Cuba which missed their targets but Zurmühlen thought that they hit some ships beyond after running times of 2 minutes 9 seconds and 2 minutes 15 seconds. The third torpedo hit the Everelza after another 58 seconds and she exploded in a 200 meters high column of fire. At 09.58 hours, U-600 fired the stern torpedo, which struck the ship of convoy commodore, the Delmundo.
The Everelza (Master Edgars Augustus Blaus) sank immediately after being torpedoed. 22 crew members and one armed guard were lost. The master, nine crew members and four armed guards were rescued by convoy escorts.
