History | While in service with the Royal Navy LST 404 was torpedoed and damaged on 15 August 1944 by the German submarine U-741 about 35 nautical miles south-east of St. Catherine’s Point in position 50º02'N, 00º38'W. The damaged ship was towed to Lee-on-Solent and declared a total loss after breaking in two. |
