Little was placed into reserve at Philadelphia in 1919
Reactivated on 4 January 1921 and decommissioned at Philadelphia on 5 July 1922
Little was converted into a high speed transport and reclassified APD-4 on 2 August 1940
Little was recommissioned as high speed transport on 4 November 1940
USS Little (Lt Cmdr Gus Brynolf Lofberg,Jr.) was sunk by Japanese destroyers off Guadalcanal in position 09º20'S, 160º01'E. 62 of the crew were killed which includes the Commanding officer and Transdivision 12 Cmdr Hugh William Hadley. The survivors which includes 27 wounded were also rescued by USS Manley.
