The British frigate HMS Duckworth (Cdr. Hugh Lloyd-Williams, DSO, RNVR) and the Canadian corvette HMCS Kamloops (T/Lt. D.M. Stewart, RCNR) together pick up 54 survivors from the American merchant Yorkmar that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-645 about 475 nautical miles south of Iceland in position 56°38'N, 20°30'W.
