HMT Loch Doon (Skipper George Henry Alexander Thompson, RNR) was mined east of Blyth on 25 December 1939. The field had been laid on 20 December 1939 by the German submarine U-22, there were 16 dead in the sinking. The coordinates of the wreck are believed to be 55º07'835"N, 01º21'105"W. Depth is approx. 47m.
