HMS Sturgeon (Lt. A.W. Langridge, RN) conducted A/S exercises off Mers el Kebir with HMS Westray (Lt.Cdr. J.A. Rhind, RNZNVR) and HMS Hunda (T/Lt. W.B. Brown, RNVR). (1)
30 Mar 1946
On passage from Malta to Gibraltar took a heavy sea causing furnace bearer bars to collapse. The engine room began to flood. An SOS was sent and the ship limped on at 4 Knots. A tug was sent to assist and the ship berthed in Gibraltar on 31 March 1946. The ship was commanded by Lieutenant Joseph William Bullock, RNVR for which he received a mention in dispatches from Commander-in-Chief Mediterranean Station, Admiral A. Willis, dated 29 May 1946.
