Sold into merchantile service in 1947.
As of 2005 this ship is still sailing under the name Middletown for the Oglebay Norton Company of Cleveland, Ohio.
She was sold into lake service, by Gulf Oil, in 1961.
She was lengthed to 730 feet and a 75 foot beam, plus conversion into a bulk frieghter.
She was named the Pioneer Challenger until 1962 when she gained her present name and employer.
The ship was converted to self unloading bulk carrier in 1982.
She is a common visitor to ports around the great lakes.

She was sold to the American Steamship Company and renamed American Victory, her current name.
