At 1430 hours, the Italian freighter Noto (3,168 GRT, built 1938) carrying ammunition was hit by a bomb and set afire during an Allied air raid on Bizerta.

At 2100 hours, Noto blew up. The explosion fatally damaged the ex-French submarine Calypso (now under Italian colours) and she sank at 2130 hours.
